Dr Jeremy Syme (Osteopath)

Dr Jeremy Syme Osteopath Professional from Osteopath Sutherland Shire

Osteopath Sutherland Shire Jeremy Syme My name Is Jeremy Syme my hobbies and interests are swimming at the beach, bush walking, camping and reading.

What made me get into Osteopathy was that I was always interested in manual medicine. High school I loved biology, chemistry and physical health that’s what led me into the health industry.

After a surfing accident I injured my lower back and saw an Osteopath that really helped me decide that’s what I wanted to do.

I went straight from high school into a diploma of remedial therapy (completed 2005), practiced for over 6 years before starting my Bachelor of Clinical Science (completed 2015) and Master of Osteopathic Medicine (completed 2017). During Uni I did some Cranial Osteopathy courses that got me interested in a different approach to treatment.

Using more functional and cranial techniques opens avenues to treating all ages from babies to the elderly including trauma patients (eg: car accidents) due to being more gentle, subtle and soothing.

I love being an Osteopathy specialist in the Sutherland Shire which covers all areas including Sutherland, Miranda, Caringbah, Cronulla, Sylvania and many more suburbs. Being an Osteopath in Sutherland Shire is of extreme importance to me, being able to give people in my community relief from chronic pain.

I have always been particularly interested in Cranial Osteopathy and have attended courses hosted by Dr George Stylian – an Osteopath who is very well known in this field.

I believe Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle application of therapy that doesn’t require force or sudden movements. This is one of the strongest reasons I practice cranial osteopathy in Sutherland Shire, I’ve had my spine manipulated “cracked” many times before and it never seemed to get better long term. But after experiencing Cranial Osteopathy my symptoms improved and I felt like it addressed the core of the problem.

The reason osteopathic philosophy is important to me is that it treats the body holistically (whole body), rather than focusing on any single symptom or disease. Osteopathic reasoning is based on anatomy and physiology (how the body’s structure is related to function). It is a life-long journey of mine as an Osteopathy practitioner to continue to refine my skills in the art of palpation and intention when using a therapeutic touch.

I believe that everybody can benefit from osteopathic treatment by an Osteopath to increase the body’s function, no matter what their age, health or vitality.
